"I joined the Red Cross Club to help and work with the Baltimore community and to connect with not only students and teachers on campus, but also with the diverse people in my community. This club has provided me with a great opportunity to work with other students on campus with shared goals to make a direct impact, one that we can see ourselves when we reach out and take on new experiences."

"I love being a part of the American Red Cross Club at UMBC because it enables me to interact with the community surrounding me, and gives many opportunities to volunteer and help others. When most people hear the words 'Red Cross', they automatically think of blood donations/ blood drives. However, the Red Cross aims to provide service to people in need, in all situations. Working with the Red Cross allows me to see how even the shortest amount of time taken out of the day to help others, makes such a big difference. "

“I joined the Red Cross Club initially due to both professional and personal reasons. I wanted something for my resume, but I also wanted to make a difference in the local community. However, I can safely say that even if there was no benefit to having the club on my resume, I would continue volunteering. Being a part of the club has given me the opportunity to see a variety of ways in which you can change the lives of others for the better, and it has confirmed for me that I want to make a career out of helping other people.”

-"Volunteer service is one of the best ways a person can show compassion to others. I engage in volunteer service because when the local community is in need, I want to do everything I can to give them the help and caring they deserve. I am proud to be part of the American Red Cross because it is an organization which has many times displayed a great passion for humanitarianism causes. Its members are a team of extraordinary people working to show compassion for people worldwide, and I am proud to be part of that team."

"As an overeager freshman, I joined just about every club/organization that was offered here at UMBC. However, the Red Cross Club is one of the few that I really stuck with. I love being a part of this organization and truly believe in all the good that we do for the campus as well as the community. There are so many opportunities to volunteer your time to, ranging from blood drives to nursing home visits. There's plenty of work to be done and a difference to be made "

"The American Red Cross has grown to help so many people in so many different ways… can you name another organization that assists people in times of disaster, provides life-saving blood, teaches skills such as CPR and wilderness survival, teaches folks how to be prepared in case of disaster, and is with our military members from enlisting throughout their career and beyond? I can think of no such organization other than the Red Cross."
